Title Suggestions for the English CLEL Bell Awards are open from March through November 15 each year.

Does your book fit the CLEL Bells Criteria?

Eligible books for the 2026 award must have been published or distributed in the United States between November 16, 2024 and November 15, 2025.

Before submitting a title:

Review the full selection criteria here.
Consider which of the five early literacy practices (Read, Write, Sing, Talk, or Play) fits the title.
Consider how the book supports the the six early literacy skills.
Take a look at our past nominations to see what the committee is looking for in a CLEL Bell title.

How to Suggest a Title

The Title Suggestion Form for the 2026 Awards has closed. Please come back in January to suggest titles for the next award year. To help you prepare, please review the information below.

When completing the Title Suggestion Form:

Suggest titles for a specific early literacy practice category (Read, Write, Talk, Sing, or Play)
Describe how the book connects to the suggested category
Describe how the book supports the six early literacy skills
Explain how the book could promote adult/child interactions.

Which Suggested Titles have been nominated?

Each suggested title is reviewed by the CLEL Bell Awards Selection Committee and considered for nomination. Nominations for the current award season are posted on the Current Nominations page.
