Hi! My name is Holly, and I have been on the CLEL Bell Awards committee for two years. I am excited to stay on for a third year as a co-co-chair. (Yes, I meant to put two “co”s there.) Now, I am normally not the type to volunteer myself to take on more responsibilities. I’m a Youth Services Librarian. I have a lot going on! And it’s almost Summer Reading season! Who has time for more of anything? The only reason I have accepted the co-co-chair position, which requires me to take on some new responsibilities, is so that I can stay on the CLEL Bell Award committee for two more years. I can’t give it up! It is one of life’s great pleasures, and I will do whatever it takes to stay on board!
What’s so great about being a member of the CLEL Bell Award committee, you ask? Being a committee member gives you:
- the opportunity to discuss picture books as an art form with a diverse and intelligent group of librarians.
- a way to show your commitment to strengthening children’s literacy in your community.
- access to quality book titles you may not have come across.
- hands-on improvement of your collection development skills.
- connections so you can keep up to date on what’s happening in Libraryland outside of your library’s doors.
- a chance to connect with other talented librarians from across Colorado and beyond!
Please consider sharing your time and talents with the CLEL Bell Awards committee this year. The application process is quick and painless—Children’s Librarians, you can do this in your sleep. Check out the application here, and see what you think!
