Governor Hickenlooper Announces Appointments to Early Childhood Leadership Commission

On August 3, Governor Hickenlooper announced his appointments to the Early Childhood Leadership Council. It's stated goal is "... to improve outcomes for young children from birth to age 8 and their families. The Commission is charged to identify opportunities for, and address barriers to, the coordination of federal and state early childhood policies and procedures that affect the health and well-being of Colorado’s children."

Who watched Mister Roger’s Neighborhood growing up?  I sure did.  PBS is coming out with an animated spin off called Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood.  Check out the PBS announcement for more information.  I will be interested to hear what you all think of the new show!

Colorado's Lieutenant Governor Needs Your Suggestions for Improving Early Childhood Education

Colorado Lt Gov Joe Garcia is asking for you input on improving the state’s early childhood development system as well as the Race to the Top grant.  There will be meetings held throughout the state.  Read this article from the Examiner for more information on how you can participate. Hopefully, we can all help make a difference in the future of our children, and ensure that libraries are included in the plan!

The CLEL Annual Meeting of the full membership will be held on Thursday, October 13 (the Thursday that CAL begins), from 8 am to 3:00 pm. We will be meeting at the Council Tree Library in Ft. Collins, CO.
